Karen works to each clients individual requirements to include detailed development of ideas, a photo session with the subject and then preliminary sketches of the painting. Once the sketches are agreed a deposit of 30% is paid and Karen commences the painting.

Here are some examples of her work to give you an idea of the possibilities:

Fandango (Above) . - Watercolour. This 7 year old Italian bred stallion is a national show-jumping winner and is now starting his international career. Home bred with his first crop of foals in 2000 he is much beloved by his owners and has a presence which is powerfully captured here. Click on the picture to enlarge

Fidelity - Watercolour This attractive bay mare is a much loved pet of the family, she is an all rounder who enjoys her work and her happy personality shines out of her portrait.

Brillant - Watercolour. This handsome dressage horse represented Spain at the World Equestrian Games in Rome and Karen has completed several paintings for his owner.

Peajade - Watercolour. His lady owner followed his racing closely, she attended every race and was there to saddle up and cheer him on in his very successful career, on his retirement he came home to her and she now looks after him herself and they ride out together every day.

- Watercolour. This portrait of a beautiful Warm Blood dressage mare was a present from a loving husband to his wife, a good example of balanced conformation which is essential for a full side on study like this.

Marabu - Watercolour. This Italian bred gelding and the Irish Setter are both for a Swiss client who fortunately speaks Italian but only some English, however between them she and Karen made themselves understood!

Gypsy Moth.(above) - Oil on canvas. This amazing grey horse is pictured at 31 years old, full of life and vigour his grace and muscle-tone is a tribute to his dressage background. He was bought as a yearling off the boat from Ireland by his lifelong owner, he had a successful dressage career was retired but brought back to hunt, cross-country and continued to be hacked out until he was 30. He outlived his replacement saw his owner through two marriages and all his love for life, beauty and charisma live on in this extraordinary portrait.

Six Of The Best .(above) - Oil on canvas. This large oil painting was commissioned by the Olympic and World Champion NZ event rider Blyth Tait as his retirement present to himself. Featuring clockwise from top left: "Ready Teddy", "Messiah", "Delta", "Aspyring", "Chesterfield" and "Riccochet".
